Our Impact
Over the past seven years, Jewish communities across four denominations have been participating in justice work, by partnering with other organisations in their local areas and investing in community organising through Citizens UK, a broad based alliance of churches, mosques, synagogues, school, migrants organisations, trade unions and tenants group that work together for the common good. During that time we have taken steps towards a more just world.
After having achieved so much in the last few years as part of Citizens UK, The Jewish Justice Centre takes our commitment to the next level. In 2020 we launch as our own organisation, committed to helping other Jewish organisations pursue social justice by building partnerships with other organisations and embedded the principles of community organising. Together, we will build a more fair, just, and compassionate world for ourselves and the generations to come - and support our communities to develop into strong centres of relationship.
Together with our partners. local alliances and Citizens UK, over the last seven years, we have achieved:
700 Syrian Refugees resettled
2000 workers moved onto a Living Wage
New safe and legal path for refugee families and children
Creating Mental Health Services for 16 and 17 year olds
Hosting our neighbours after a hate attack
How It Works
We train individuals
Through a clergy training programme, a bnei mitzvah social justice programme, our congregational leaders training, and a coaching and mentoring offer.
To transform their institutions
Through training communities on different options for justice, supporting them into broad based alliances for social justice, and training communities on antisemitism and antiracism to support them to be effective in working across lines of race, religion and class. We also support communities to transform internally in relation to congregational development, through our partnership projects.
To change the world
By building campaigns, strategies, and support for local and national campaigns.
